Even if your wishes come true, you remain stuck in inertia instead of taking steps to make the most of your life. I will never be good enough. Wishful thinking stops you from setting goals, whether positive or negative. You cannot set a goal if you don't know what it is. If you don’t know how to work towards a goal, you cannot make a plan or structure how to achieve it. Without goals, there’s no sense of progress or learning from failure. I’ll be happy when... Many people divide their lives into two phases: before and after. "I’ll be happy when I get that promotion" or "I’ll be happy when I lose 20 pounds." When you think of your future as hinging on moments of change rather than what you can do to improve your life now, you tell yourself that wishful thinking is enough. You skip all the necessary steps to achieve success, believing it will happen magically. This is the worst form of wishful thinking. It’s an escape from reality, but in this case, it’s not even an escape; it’s a belief that happiness will transform your life into something you imagine rather than what it currently is.
